The Cavern Celebrates 1963
The 60th anniversary of the explosion of Mersey Beat

13th April will mark exactly 60 years since Gerry and the Pacemakers hit number one with ‘How Do You Do It’. For the rest of the decade Mersey Beat dominated the charts. Gerry Marsden was patron of a unique Merseyside charity and all the money raised on the night will go to fund the expansion of the charity’s work. The night will also be exactly one month before the final of Eurovision when the eyes and ears of the world will again be focused on Liverpool.
All income from the night will go towards the launch of a £60k appeal to expand the services of the Merseyside charity, The Holistic Cancer Centre. Gerry Marsden was patron of the charity which is celebrating 35 years supporting people with cancer. Their team of nurses and therapists provide a range of free therapies and counselling. The unique charity offers ‘A Safe Place in a Difficult Time’.
