Celebrating 40 Years of Soul – Omar Lyefook MBE Returns with ‘Brighter The Days’

Celebrating 40 incredible years in music, Omar Lyefook MBE – one of the UK’s most celebrated and influential soul artists – returns to The Cavern Club as part of his ‘Brighter The Days’ UK Tour.

From his timeless debut hit “There’s Nothing Like This” to collaborations with Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu, Angie Stone, Leon Ware, Robert Glasper, Paul Weller, and India Arie, Omar has defined the sound of British soul across four decades, blending jazz, funk, R&B, and Caribbean influences into a style entirely his own.

The New Album – ‘Brighter The Days’

Released in 2025, Omar’s ninth studio album Brighter The Days has been hailed as his most confident, expansive, and soulful work yet. The record features collaborations with Giggs, Raheem DeVaughn, Eric Roberson, Ledisi, Jeru The Damaja, and lush orchestral arrangements by Chris Cameron (George Michael, Tina Turner).

Omar describes the album as his “magnum opus”, a body of work that showcases his unmistakable voice, timeless groove, and masterful songwriting. Standout tracks like This Thing Called Life, Research, and the title track Brighter The Days confirm his place as one of the UK’s most enduring creative forces.

“I am healed all over when he sings.” – Erykah Badu

“When I grow up, I wanna be like Omar.” – Stevie Wonder

About Omar Lyefook MBE

Born in London and raised in Canterbury, Omar’s musical journey began within a family rich in musical heritage – his father Byron Lye-Fook played drums for legends like Doris Troy and Marcia Griffiths, while his brother Scratch Professer became an acclaimed producer and DJ.

Omar’s breakout hit There’s Nothing Like This (1990) became a soul anthem and propelled him into international acclaim. Since then, he has released a string of acclaimed albums including Music (1992), For Pleasure (1994), and Sing (If You Want It) (2006). His collaborations with Common, Angie Stone, Estelle, and Stevie Wonder continue to showcase his deep artistry and musical evolution.

In 2012, Omar received an MBE for services to music, presented by King Charles III (then Prince Charles), who personally requested a copy of his next album.
