The ‘Our Dementia Choir’ with Vicky McClure sing The Beatles on Tuesday November 12 2024, 7pm in the Live Lounge at The Cavern Club celebrating FAB DAY!
At 7pm on November the 12th The Cavern Club is hosting a benefit concert for the Our Dementia Choir, singing Beatles songs, conducted by TV star and Dementia ambassador, Vicky McClure and the Our dementia music team, led by Daniella Smith. The concert, staged in the Live Lounge, is free to attend with attendees encouraged to give a small donation to the cause.
This will be the second visit for the choir with the evening hosted by filmmaker Simon Weitzman of FAB Days CIC, continuing to bring Beatles music and more music programs into the nation’s care homes and also to people in home care. Working with the Our Dementia Choir charity, The Cavern Club and the care home media company Person Centered Software, the concert will also be shown across the UK’s care home TV network, reaching 3000+ care homes.
The project to bring Beatles music to people in care homes was originally the idea of The Cavern Club’s very own Bill Heckle, who’s vision has been to create a Beatles themed care home. The mantle has been picked up by Simon Weitzman, who is creating a long term plan to create a not for profit Beatles music program that people with Dementia and other memory based conditions can all enjoy in care homes here and eventually in the USA, and beyond as well.
The idea of staging something to actually celebrate November the 16th, a famous day in the history of The Beatles (1962) comes from celebrated Beatles historian, Mark Lewisohn, who felt the date should be acknowledged and celebrated with something meaningful and with a legacy. Tuesday the 12th’s gig will be streamed into care homes from November the 16th.
Please join us on the night and turn up at least 30 minutes early to secure a space. The gig is being filmed for promotional purposes so we are letting you know in advance.
This year’s concert is kindly sponsored once again by American based film production and distribution company, Liverpool West Productions, who represent The Cavern Club’s film in the USA.
