The Cavern Club celebrates its 60th year in 2017 and our ethos has very much been about the Past, Present and Future. Our events celebrate the history of the Cavern with brilliant tributes to the past while also giving an opportunity for new artists to exhibit their music.

Adele’s exclusive gig was brought to The Cavern on 5th January 2011 courtesy of Smooth FM and was the perfect way to kick off the Cavern’s year of events. Performing a mix of songs from her 2 albums ‘19’ and ‘21’, Adele sang with soul, precision and emotion as her and her pianist Miles captivated the intimate Live Lounge audience as they listened and watched the note perfect songstress intently. The performance was followed up with a relaxed Q&A session in an ‘audience with’ style that allowed for questions from the audience. Adele spoke with ease and provided anecdotes that showed off her confident, grounded and witty personality which, along with ‘that’ voice has been instrumental in her rise to fame.

With help from Radio City, Jessie J, played a very intimate gig at the Cavern on 3rd January 2012. Engaging with the stories behind her songs, the number one singer – and artist behind 2011’s biggest selling debut album – took time during the set to pass the microphone out to fans, and even sign pictures and read posters between songs. The 50-minute set felt like a gig tailored for the most devoted of her supporters.

James McCartney performed a sell-out show at the Cavern Club half a century after father Paul performed at the venue with The Beatles.
In a week where he raised the possibility of launching a new band with the sons of other former Beatles, he also followed in his father Sir Paul McCartney’s footsteps by playing his first ever concert at Liverpool’s Cavern Club.

Yoko Ono visited Liverpool to launch The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus at the Museum of Liverpool and afterwards she popped down to the Cavern to see where her husband had performed so many years ago. Yoko came out screaming to a packed room of fans in the Live Lounge and said a few quiet words before departing the stage.

On Friday 4 December 2015 a brand new statue of The Beatles was unveiled in front of the Cunard Building depicting the Fab Four walking along the waterfront. The sculpture was kindly gifted to the city by the legendary Cavern Club, the venue where The Beatles were discovered. The team at the Cavern wanted to acknowledge how synonymous the band is with the city, and the new addition to the waterfront will undoubtedly prove to be a must-visit location for fans across the world. The bronze statue which weighs in at 1.2 tonnes was unveiled by Julia Baird (John Lennon’s sister) and Deputy Mayor of Liverpool, Councillor Ann O’Byrne.

Joe Bomamassa performed in front of an audience of 350 invited fans to preview his forthcoming tour of the UK and Europe playing the music of the ‘British Blues Boom’ of the early 1960’s, in particular the major guitar players of the time, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck.
This was the music that the young Bonamassa cut his teeth on, the music he learned to play along to and the music that created the blues guitar genius that gave tonight’s lively and appreciative crowd the opportunity to see, close up, just how good he is.

Monkee Micky Dolenz made his first ever appearance at the Cavern Club during the International Beatleweek festival in 2016.
Micky performed 2 sold out shows full of old and new Monkees tracks. Micky’s performance came right after the release of the Monkees album ‘Good Times’ which reached #1 on Billboards US Vinyl Album Chart.

The Cavern celebrated its 60th Anniversary in 2017 with the unveiling of a Cilla Black statue outside the original entrance of the Cavern. This was followed by live music from resident artists and the unveiling of a 6 ft. by 4 ft. painting in the Live Lounge created by world-renowned artist Shannon. As there are no images of the Rolling Stones at the Cavern we now have an artists rendition of what it may have looked like.
In the evening we celebrated with a special VIP party where the future of Rock ‘N’ Roll Louis Berry performed live along with the Quarrymen (who made their debut at the Cavern 60 years earlier!), Gilbert O’Sullivan, Supercharge, the Dany Doris Band from Le Caveau de la Huchette, Chris Farlowe and Cavern resident musicians.
