International Beatleweek Festival wins ‘Festival of the Year’ Award
Liverpool, UK – March 2026 – The world-famous International Beatleweek Festival has been crowned Event/Festival of the Year at the Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards, recognising the festival’s global appeal and its vital role in celebrating Liverpool’s rich musical heritage.
Held last Thursday at Liverpool Cathedral, the prestigious ceremony celebrated the people, places and experiences that power the Liverpool City Region’s £6.25 billion visitor economy. Hosted by BBC Radio Merseyside presenter Kevin Duala, the evening honoured businesses and organisations that have helped welcome thousands of visitors to the region over the past year.
This year’s Event/Festival of the Year category placed the public at the heart of the voting process, with the International Beatleweek Festival securing strong public backing before impressing the judging panel — a result that highlights the region’s deep love of music, culture and world-class events.
Organised annually by Cavern City Tours, the International Beatleweek Festival brings thousands of Beatles fans from across the globe to Liverpool each August. The week-long celebration features live performances from leading Beatles tribute bands, special guests connected to The Beatles’ story, unique fan experiences and events across the city, centred around the legendary Cavern Club — the birthplace of The Beatles’ rise to fame.
Cavern Director Jon Keats said:
“We’re incredibly honoured to receive this award, especially in a category where the public had such an important role in the voting. International Beatleweek has always been about bringing people together through a shared love of The Beatles music and celebrating Liverpool’s unique place in cultural history. To be recognised alongside so many fantastic events and festivals across the Liverpool City Region means a great deal to our whole team and to the global community of fans who travel here every year.”
The Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards feature 20 categories spanning accommodation, attractions, food and drink, entertainment, events and innovation, highlighting the diversity and ambition of the region’s visitor economy across all six boroughs.
Natalie Wyatt, Managing Director of Liverpool City Region Destination Partnership, said:
“This year’s winners highlight the exceptional talent and commitment powering our visitor economy, creating the people-centred experiences that make our region stand out. Their work strengthens a world-class destination that drives economic growth, supports jobs and keeps the Liverpool City Region thriving.”
Bill Addy, Chief Executive of Liverpool BID Company and headline sponsor, added:
“We are delighted to be able to offer our continued support for the annual awards, showcasing the very best in our world-famous tourism industry. We work tirelessly to support the industry, and we have invested significantly over the past two years, particularly through the Accommodation BID, on attracting more spectacular events to Liverpool to boost the hospitality sector.
