Radio 1 Breakfast Show Broadcasts Live from The Cavern Club Ahead of Big Weekend
The legendary Cavern Club welcomed Radio 1’s Breakfast Show crew on Tuesday 20th May as part of the station’s week-long celebration in Liverpool ahead of Radio 1’s Big Weekend at Sefton Park.
Broadcasting live from the iconic venue, the team brought energy, excitement, and a few surprises – including Traitors star Minah hiding in the famous cellar for an on-air competition giving lucky listeners the chance to win tickets to this weekend’s festival.
Breakfast show host Greg James and his team soaked up the unique atmosphere on their tour of the venue, immersing themselves in the Cavern’s rich musical history and exploring the memorabilia that lines the walls in tribute to the many icons who’ve performed there. A self-confessed Arctic Monkeys fan, James was visibly awestruck by the venue’s legacy, taking part in a playful “drum off” on the Cavern’s Live Lounge stage and proudly sporting Cavern merchandise around Liverpool throughout the day.
The excitement is building across the city, with a buzz in the air reminiscent of the electric atmosphere during Eurovision. That energy continues tonight with BBC Introducing with Dave Monks, promising an evening of fresh, new music and local talent.
